Looking for a fun event that features great food, music, and local vendors? Well, you are in luck! The Carmichael Recreation and Park District is hosting the Park Rec and Eat It Food Truck Event on May 7 from 5-8 pm. Throw on your best sandals and head down to Carmichael Park. Hopefully you already have sandal-ready feet, but not to worry if you don’t – you can prepare them in 6 days!

Day 1

When it comes to preparing for sandal-ready feet, the first step is to remove existing nail polish and leave the toenails completely natural for six days ahead of time. Discolored nails? Gently rub a lemon wedge on them for sixty seconds and let the natural oxidizing agents brighten them up.

Day 2

Fill a tub of water and add a couple drops of tea tree oil, which acts as an antiseptic. Be sure to clean between your toes as you rub your feet with mild soap in a washcloth.

Day 3

Use an exfoliating scrub in your shower or bath to handle rough patches of skin on your feet. Smooth out rougher spots with a foot file or pumice stone. Be gentle with the scrubbing and don’t forget the heels and balls of your feet!

Day 4

Start your cuticle care by soaking a few minutes, gently pushing them back with a blunt orange stick, and then moisturizing them to keep them soft.

Day 5

Create a mixture of 4 tablespoons of honey, ¼ cup of sour cream, and 2 drops of lemon juice. This may sound odd, but the honey hydrates your skin while the sour cream and lemon exfoliate dry patches with their lactic and citric acids. Take your mix and sit on the edge of your bathtub, feet inside, and apply it to your feet. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse well.

Day 6

Time to trim your toenails! Prevent ingrown nails by clipping your nails straight across and not rounding them off. Make sure they are even with the edge of your toes. If you are going to paint them, use a buffer first and then add some color. Look for non-toxic polishes without harsh chemicals.
