The curling of the toes under the foot is labeled claw, or hammertoe. This condition is created by the collapsing of the foot’s arch, causing the corresponding foot tendons to engage continually and pull the joints, curling the toes. If not treated, over time the toes will set in this position, requiring surgery to repair. If caught early by a medical specialist and treated by re-establishing and supporting the arch in it’s optimal position, the condition can be reversed.
Sole Supports custom orthotics, provided by the expert podiatrists here at McDowell Podiatry Group, can help correct your foot’s collapsing arch, alleviating pain and helping to reduce the occurrence of hammertoes.
